The Reshaping of Iran from Zoroastrian to Muslim: A History of Cultural Transformation (2013)

This dynamic work sheds light on how the adoption of a foreign religious ideology, grafted onto an ancient civilization, reshaped a national identity, marginalizing the very 'roots' of the nation to craft a new collective character. The assimilation of two cultures, Arab and Persian, began to evolve and encompassed all aspects of Iranian society. The conquest of Sasanian Iran by the Arabs, newly galvanized by Islam, brought to a close Zoroastrian Iran which would henceforth become an integral part of the Islamic world. This book examines the transformation of the country and its impact on the diminished Zoroastrian community; and investigates Zoroastrian-Muslim relations in Iran, from the early post-conquest era to the present time.

Contemporary Zoroastrians: An Unstructured Nation (1994)

The contemporary Zoroastrians are, arguably, the world's smallest religious-ethnic group. In this book, Writer examines the two major constituent groups, Parsi and Iranian Zoroastrians and analyzes the diversity as well as the unifying features specific among them. Writer enhances her theoretical framework with extensive interviews with the living community, conducted on three continents Asia, Europe, and North America

The Memoirs of Keikhosrow Shahrokh

(1994)

Keikhosrow Shahrokh was arguably the most outstanding Iranian Zoroastrian of the late 19th/early 20th century. He was an active participant in some of the most dramatic events in that period of Iran’s turbulent history. Born in the latter part of the Qajar dynasty, he was trusted by Ahmad Shah Qajar and was a confidant of Reza Shah Pahlavi, founder of the Pahlavi dynasty. He was the Zoroastrian representative in the Majles from 1909 until his death in 1940. The Memoirs give an insight into Keikhosrow’s active participation in specific national events and the crucial part he played in the upliftment of Iran’s Zoroastrian community.
